General Dryer Vent Questions, Tips, and Answers
Why does my dryer takes 3 or 4 cycles for my clothes to dry?
Your dry vent system is not allowing for the proper airflow to move throughout the system lining. There could be multiple problems. Call us to diagnose the issue as this could be the sign of a potential fire hazard.
My dryer is getting really hot, but I'm not sure why.
This could be the result of a pinched flex line, blockage or several other issues. This also means that heat is coming back towards your dryer rather than exiting the system, which will catch your dryer on fire. This concern needs to be addressed immediately.
My laundry room has lint getting everywhere and I'm not sure why.
Either your flex line has become disconnected or there is a tear in your flex line. This line will need to be replaced with the proper clamp fasteners to secure the line. This is also very dangerous as the heat is not properly escaping the system.
There is water coming out of my dryer vent line. Is this normal?
This is the sign of a huge problem. Your line is completely blocked and the heat is creating condensation (water) in the line. they system will need to be cleaned and possibly portions of the line replaced if there is damage done to the line. If plastic corrugated pipe has been used in the system, it will need to be removed and replaced with a 4" sheet metal pipe lining to restore the system airflow and prevent future problems. It is highly recommended that corrugated pipe not be used when installing a dryer vent lining system.
I was in my attic and saw a pipe that was separated. My wife was doing laundry and it was blowing fabric everywhere.
The line needs to be repaired. This is a fire hazard and safety concern. The level of heat that is being produced along with the moisture in the line from drying wet clothes will make the attic very moist and could cause mold spores to develop over a long period of time.
I see stems and small branches coming out my dryer vent line and there isn't much air coming out.
It sounds like there is a birds nest in the line, which is also will also be accompanied by a lot of fabric that has been built up in the line. This is a definite fire hazard and the system needs to be completely cleaned.
